Mary Louise (Marol) Bernett, 81, of Latrobe, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 6, 1942, in Luxor, she was a daughter of the late Victor E. and Effie P. (Myers) Marol. Mary Louise was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Latrobe. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed bingo and bowling. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart, Thomas C. Bernett; two daughters, Mary Anne Nolan and Carol Winters; three brothers, Victor, Benedict, and James Marol; and two sisters, Cecelia Leonard and Bernadette O'Hara. Mary Louise is survived by one daughter, Linda L. DiOrio, and her husband Tony, of Greensburg; one brother, Gerald Marol, and his wife Sandy, of Latrobe; five grandchildren, Nicole Nolan, Racheal Whittaker (Joel), Angela DiOrio, Julia DiOrio, and Thomas C. Ballantyne; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the ICU at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital Unit (6FG) and especially nurse Emma and Dr. Chris for their excellent care and compassion. Family and friends will be received from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, with the Trinity Clergy officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Trauger.
