After almost 12 years, KDKA-TV morning anchor Heather Abraham will leave the morning anchor desk. Abraham, who will continue to host KDKA’s "Pittsburgh Today Live,” said KDKA reporter Lindsay Ward, who joined the station in April 2019, will succeed her as morning anchor. The change, effective Sept. 9, will see Ward anchor the morning news alongside David Highfield. John Shumway will continue to "highlight traffic and do special enterprise reporting,” per KDKA news director Shawn Hoder. "Heather is not going away. Heather will continue to contribute to the mornings and be instrumental in helping to create new, local original content for all of our platforms and our communities - stand by for future announcements.” "It was not easy to come to this decision in my heart, but after talking with my wonderful bosses at KDKA, and with their blessing, I am stepping away from the anchor desk in the morning,” Abraham, a Shaler Area High School grad, wrote on her Facebook page. "It will allow me to expand my role on ‘PTL,’ still contribute to the morning show with valuable reports (fun stuff is planned!), and Ill be able to help with additional creative content… which is a newfound passion of mine.” Abraham, who joined KDKA in 2010, made note of her ability to sleep past 2:15 a.m., the time she had to wake up to anchor the morning newscast. "I have to say, this city, my home, has always collectively seemed like the neighbor who has a cup of sugar if you need it, a listening ear, and a bit of advice,” she wrote. "You have allowed me to grow at KDKA and cheered me on when new opportunities arrived. I am so thankful for that. And hope that you continue to cheer me on during this new venture. Setting my alarm to 5 a.m. seems like a dream after all these years!” Channel surfing NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo-hosted show, "Cuomo,” will premiere at 8 p.m. Oct. 3. … HBO Max renewed "Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” for a second season.
