Serra Catholic hired one of the most familiar faces it could find to replace Bob Rozanski as its boys basketball coach. Vince Gibbons, 25, has been with the program as an assistant since he graduated from Serra in 2003. Rozanski, 58, who coached Gibbons in high school, also was 25 when he became the coach at Serra. "I am humbled," Gibbons said. "(Bob) is a legend." Rozanski won 519 games during his 32-year career. Gibbons said he isn't overwhelmed with his distinction as one of the youngest varsity coaches in the WPIAL. "I think I am ready," he said. "You kind of know what is expected, especially at Serra because of the tradition." Gibbons, who graduated from Penn State-Greater Allegheny, is employed by UPMC. » The Mt. Lebanon girls basketball team, which won its second consecutive PIAA title this year, will be honored with a National Guard National Ranking trophy after ending the season No. 7 in the country in the MaxPreps rankings. The trophy will be presented to coach Dori Oldaker and her players at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the high school. » Clairton sprinters Paige Moody and Trenton Coles, winners of the 100-meter dashes at the WPIAL Class AA southern qualifier Tuesday, have more in common than school colors. The two share a grandfather, Norman Jones, who won the state title in the 100 in 1971. Moody, a senior, won in 13.39 seconds. Coles, a sophomore, ran 11.49. The WPIAL championship is next Thursday at Baldwin. "You'll probably be hearing about at least one or two more (grandchildren) in the future, as well," Jones said.
