A monthly summer tradition of bringing various craft and candlemakers, food vendors and artists to Sewickley is set to begin.

Sewickley Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Night Mart returns June 28, July 26 and Aug. 30.

The borough’s business district along Beaver Street will be bustling from 6 to 9 p.m. those nights.

The road will be closed from Broad to Walnut streets.

About 17 food vendors and more than 30 artisans have signed up to take part in this year’s events.

“Summer in Sewickley is magical,” said Erica Parr, Night Mart coordinator. “We’re looking forward to another successful season for all of the Sewickley shops and visiting artisan vendors and food trucks.”

Foods include burgers, pizza, hot dogs, barbecue, vegan soul food, freeze-dried candy, cheesecake by the slice and other desserts.

Artisans include pottery, quilled artwork, aromatherapy and body care products, candles, jewelry, pet portraits, spices and salts, salsa, unique hats, olive oil, fresh flowers, dog treats, clothing and more.

Parr said the layout has changed a bit to give people more space to move around.

“The band will be moved to the far end of Beaver Street at Walnut. Our food trucks will be featured just at the far end closest to the band followed by our artisan vendors, which will now occupy both sides of Beaver Street closest to Broad Street,” Parr said.

Parking is free after 5 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.

Council President Cynthia Mullins said it takes a lot of effort to make the marts a success. She is looking forward to seeing everyone in town shopping and having a good time.

“The Night Mart events take a tremendous amount of work on the part of the chamber and Sewickley public works,” Mullins said. “It’s gratifying to see how much the community enjoys them. They’ve really taken off and gotten bigger and better.”

Sewickley business owner Eky Divine will be bringing her Nigerian family recipes and hand-ground organic sun-dried spices to the Night Mart.

It is her first major event and part of the launch of Kizzle Foods.

“We are a new business in Sewickley,” Divine said. “It’s a way for us to introduce ourselves to the community. We know that Sewickley’s Night Mart has a good reputation for community engagement. We want to be a part of that.”

The spices have no salt, no artificial ingredients and no fillers.

Divine’s shop formally opens July 5 at 559 Beaver St. near the dry cleaners and Three Dog Bakery.

A full lineup of vendors and participating businesses is available on the chamber’s website at sewickleychamberofcommerce.org.
