A 71-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon in a residential fire in Scottdale, authorities said.
Westmoreland County Coroner Tim Carson declined to name the victim but told TribLive about 8 p.m. he was working to notify the man’s next of kin.
The coroner’s office had been called to a home in the 900 block of Market Street, a county 911 dispatcher said.
A woman — one of two people who were reported to be trapped inside the home — was extricated from the fire, the dispatcher said. The extent of her injuries remained unknown.
Firefighters from several departments responded to the fire, which was initially reported at 4:52 p.m.
