Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance is returning today to Allegheny County to deliver remarks focused on inflation and high costs.

Vance is scheduled to speak at 12:30 p.m. at The Pennsylvanian, a luxury apartment building and event space in Downtown Pittsburgh.

His speech to an audience of pre-registered attendees will focus on the high price of gas, groceries, utilities, rent and homes.

Vance, the running mate of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, is expected to blame Vice President Kamala Harris and federal pandemic aid for causing inflation.

“Parents are struggling to provide for their families; young people are unable to start families and buy a home; and senior citizens living off of fixed income are scraping by off of ramen noodles to survive,” said the Trump-Vance campaign in a press release.

“The Trump-Vance administration will reverse Kamala’s inflationary policies and unleash Pennsylvania energy to cut utility and energy costs in half — delivering relief for everyday Americans.”

The economy has been the top issue for both Pennsylvanians and Americans generally throughout the election, according to polls.

Vance, Ohio’s junior U.S. senator, last visited Allegheny County on Sept. 28, when he held a town hall in Monroeville.

Trump, Harris, and their running mates have visited the Pittsburgh region 16 times since July, more than any other region in the country.

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz toured Southwestern Pennsylvania on Tuesday. Trump will rally in Westmoreland County on Saturday.

The race for Pennsylvania’s crucial 19 Electoral College votes is neck and neck, with Harris having a marginal edge.

A recent New York Times/Siena College poll shows Harris ahead of Trump, 49% to 45%, among likely voters in Pennsylvania. The margin of error was 3.8%.
