Construction is continuing at the future site of the Hempfield Municipal Complex on Weatherwood Lane.
The first phase of the $15 million development includes infrastructure, such as stormwater management and utilities, as well as the creation of pads for planned buildings and a 14-acre park, said township manager Aaron Siko.
Officials broke ground in August on the 43 acres in eastern Hempfield. The complex will include new township offices and a public safety building. Additional amenities will include ADA-compliant pathways, an asphalt parking lot with electric vehicle charging stations and public restrooms, among others.
It is visible from Route 30 near the Mt. Pleasant and Cedar Street exits. Officials believe the location, close to the intersection of Hempfield, Greensburg, South Greensburg and Southwest Greensburg, will be an advantage with access to major local highways.
The property was purchased from the former Excela Health system in 2021.
