Young thespians at Dorseyville Middle School recently wrapped up their fall musical run of “Seussical Jr.”

Director Pamela Fiano chose the whimsical Dr. Seuss-themed musical to mark the theater program’s 20th anniversary.

“I chose this show because it has a sweet message and it’s fun,” Fiano said. “It’s about sticking up for the little person and remaining true to yourself.”

Students from grades 6 through 8 rehearsed for eight weeks and performed six shows, three for the students and staff and three for the public.

“This group is special. They performed amazingly,” Fiano said of the cast and crew. “They’re talented and worked well as a team. They will be very, very missed (the ones that go on to high school), and it’s nice to see them grow as actors. They’re so kind.”

Public performance dates were Nov. 21-23 in the middle school auditorium.

Fiano, who teaches Spanish, has directed musicals at Dorseyville for the past 19 years.
