The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned defenseman Nate Clurman to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) on Wednesday.

Clurman, 26, made his NHL debut Sunday during a 3-2 home win against the New York Islanders. Primarily skating on the third pairing, he logged 11:05 of ice time on 17 shifts and had four shots, two penalty minutes as well as one blocked shot.

He was a healthy scratch Tuesday during a 4-2 road loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

The right-handed Clurman has been recalled to the NHL roster on three different occasions this season, most recently on Friday. He is signed to a one-year, two-way contract with a salary cap hit of $775,000.

With Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Clurman had appeared in 18 games this season and scored five points (one goal, four assists).
