Sheetz is the newest location to carry a line of cold brews by two local companies.
Coffee beans from La Prima Espresso Co. and milk from Schneider’s have been blended into ready-to-drink bottled caffeinated beverages called La Prima Cold Brew Coffee. The drinks are also available at select CVS, Giant Eagle, Shop ‘n Save and Fresh Thyme stores.
The idea has been in the works for a little over a year, according to La Prima owner Sam Patti. He said teaming with Schneider’s made sense because La Prima stores use Schneider’s milk. Patti said working with Justin Schneider has made the partnership work well.
Flavors include caramel crème, vanilla crème, mocha crème, and regular cold brew coffee.
Each is $3.99 for 12 ounces.
“It’s a dessert-y type drink,” Patti said. “I like the chocolate one the best. I also like that you can taste the coffee flavor.”
Patti said La Prima introduced cold brew for the summer at its cafes about 10 years ago.
“Customers asked for it year round so we have it year round,” Patti said. “It is like when most ice cream shops used to close in the winter but some now stay open because people want ice cream year round, even on cold days we’ve had lately.”
