No news seemingly was good news Wednesday in regards to the statuses of two Pittsburgh Steelers starters for Saturday’s playoff opener.
Veteran starting outside cornerback Donte Jackson again was listed as fully practicing and rookie starting right guard as a partial participant for Wednesday’s session, which was held at Acrisure Stadium.
Wednesday’s injury report in that way mirrored the one released Tuesday for Jackson and McCormick, the starters whose health is most in question for the wild-card round game at the Baltimore Ravens.
Jackson has missed two of the past three games because of a back injury, and McCormick suffered a broken left hand during the Steelers’ regular-season finale this past Saturday. McCormick on Tuesday sounded optimistic about his chances to play Saturday barring any setbacks.
Veteran tight end MyCole Pruitt did not practice at all after suffering a knee injury during Tuesday’s practice.
Four players who remain on injury-related lists and not on the active roster continued to be full participants at practice: receiver Roman Wilson, offensive lineman Calvin Anderson, defensive lineman Logan Lee and inside linebacker Cole Holcomb. There is no indication any will be activated in time to play Saturday.
Two players who did not practice because of illness were kicker Chris Boswell and defensive tackle Cameron Heyward. Heyward, who said he had the flu late last week, was at the Steelers’ UPMC Rooney Sports Complex facility. He played through his sickness this past Saturday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
