Wegmans is coming. Wegmans is coming.

Wegmans executives said they are eyeing late 2027 as the target date to open their recently announced Cranberry location and hinted there could be more stores coming to the Pittsburgh area.

So, why the hoopla?

A TribLive journalist drove to the Erie store this week to talk to customers.

Here’s what they said:

“Honestly, everything,” Theresa Marshall of Waterford told TribLive on Tuesday. “I like the atmosphere. I like the vibe. I like the quality of the food. They don’t disappoint. The pricing is good.

“It’s just fabulous.”

Sandra Acker of Erie likes the variety of goods to choose from.

“They just have everything you need, and things are fresh and well stocked,” she said. “They’re just a friendly store and helpful.”

Beatriz Perez of Erie loves the fresh sushi and pizza and sandwich stands. She also appreciates the gluten free and vegan options.

“It’s all in one. It’s nice you can just go there for everything and be done,” she said.

Marshall also likes seeing produce from surrounding farms for sale at Wegmans.

“A lot of the farms by where we live have food here,” she said. “I love that they always put where the farm is and how far from the store it is. Who does that?”

Jaidin Barnes of Erie agreed.

“You know what quality you’re getting,” she said.

Acker’s message to the Pittsburgh region: “People will love it. They will love having access to Wegmans there.”
