Manufactured locally in Butler, Pennsylvania, since its inception in 1935, the American Bantam Car Company quickly gained renown for its compact yet stylish vehicles that captured the imagination of drivers nationwide. Particularly notable is the 1938 model, which gained widespread recognition as the inspiration behind Donald Duck's iconic car in the animated short film "Don Donald," solidifying its cultural significance. American Bantam's biggest historic achievement lies in its design, production, and delivery of the very first jeep in less than 90 days. The company's innovation extended beyond civilian vehicles; it produced the most fuel-efficient engine and the first prototype under the original U.S. Army tender specifications, securing the first contract.
