Fun and Freedom Inc. to sponsor designer purse bash

A designer purse bash to benefit Fun and Freedom Inc. will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Springdale Veterans Association hall, 1151 Pittsburgh St., Springdale.

Cost is $50 and includes entry into 13 main ticket drawings, dinner, dessert use of the photo booth and entry into the door prize drawings. There will be side raffles, a silent auction, mystery wristlets and a 50-50.

MyHeritage research database available at Harrison library

The local history department at Community Library of Allegheny Valley, 1522 Broadview Blvd., Harrison, offers the use of the MyHeritage Research Database that includes billions of historical documents for nearly 50 countries, historical photographs, public records, indexes and more.

Book collection box available in Apollo

Apollo Memorial Library now has a Better World Books drop box at the library, 219 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

After a book is placed in the box, the library checks to see if it is a duplicate or not a good fit for their catalog and if it is not, it is sent to Better World Books to be resold at a discount. Books that are not purchased are recycled.
