At the end of 2023, Grist House Craft Brewery held a temporary beer event at Sprankle’s Neighborhood Market.

The pop-up has turned permanent.

On Feb. 15, the Millvale-based brewery is opening a taproom from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Sprankle’s in Saxonburg, Butler County.

The partnership also includes food by Pocha by Kye-Won, an authentic Korean-style eatery.

“Our pop-up was successful, so when there was an opportunity to move in there we decided to do it,” said Christie Massari, marketing manager for Grist House. “Their food is good and authentic and Sprankle’s is an established market, which makes this a great combination.”

Pocha by Kye-Won has regularly been serving its food at Grist House’s Millvale taproom.

The Sprankle’s taproom will carry several Grist House beers and some batch cocktails. It will have an eight-seat bar, some tables and an attached patio they plan to heat.

Doug Sprankle, owner of Sprankle’s, said they have been remodeling the space and have expanded the area.

“Pocha” is the Korean word for vendor of comfort foods. Every dish is homemade — a Korean grandmother is hand-making dumplings in the kitchen.

“It’s a celebration of authentic Korean food, phenomenal beer and all about community,” said Kye-Won Doyle, the chef and owner of Pocha by Kye-Won, in a statement. “I especially get excited about introducing Korean food to a novice. I want everyone walking through the doors to feel like they’re eating at my dining room table.”

Last year, Grist House opened its Beer Crib at 795 Pittsburgh Road in Butler, near Saxonburg.

Sprankle’s Neighborhood Market is located at 270 W. Water St. in Saxonburg. The Grist House Craft Brewery and Pocha by Kye-Won area opens Feb. 15, with hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
