Fallen concrete from a railroad overpass has temporarily closed one lane of Bridge Street in Millvale, which many use to access Millvale Riverfront Park.

In a statement Feb. 10, the borough said the overpass is owned and maintained by Allegheny Valley Railroad, which it said is “currently assessing the situation.”

“The affected lane will remain closed until inspections are completed and a plan for repairs is in place,” the statement said.

The closure initially was reported in a social media post early Feb. 9 by Millvale police. The post advises drivers to use the other lane for entering and exiting the park.

The borough statement said it recognizes the “inconvenience” of the closure, but it said it would share updates as they develop.

Carload Express, the owner of Allegheny Valley Railroad, could not be immediately reached for comment about when the overpass may be repaired.
