Fabric and crafts retailer Joann will close at least 30 stores in Pennsylvania, including most in the region.
The embattled retailer, which declared bankruptcy in March 2024 and then again in January, said it would be closing around 500 stores nationwide.
“This was a very difficult decision to make, given the major impact we know it will have on our team members, our customers and all of the communities we serve,” a Joann spokesperson told CNN.
According to TribLive news partner WTAE, these are the following stores to close:
- Belle Vernon: Tri-County Plaza
- Butler: 160 Pullman Square
- Collier Township: Great Southern Shopping Center
- Cranberry Township: 20111 Route 19
- Greensburg: Greengate Centre
- Indiana: 1570 Oakland Ave.
- Johnstown: 1425 Scalp Ave.
- Monroeville: 3700 William Penn Highway
- Pleasant Hills: Southland Shopping Center on Route 51
- Robinson Township: Robinson Town Centre
- Ross Township: 7375 McKnight Road
That might leave Joann’s Pittsburgh Mills location as one of the only left in Western Pennsylvania.
In a court filing, lawyers for Joann said stores would need to be closed to cut costs.
“As the sale process progressed, and prospective bidders continued to conduct diligence and refine their potential bids, the Debtors and their advisors were able to identify a subset of underperforming stores that are unlikely to be considered or included in any going concern bid,” lawyers said in a court filing, according to Fast Company.
