Subzero windchills prompt school delays
Windchills below zero prompted school districts across the Pittsburgh region to delay the start of classes Tuesday.
While no snow is expected and sunshine is in the forecast, it’s forecast to be cold all day, according to WTAE meteorologist Ashley Dougherty.
Nearly 100 schools had announced delays as of about 5 a.m. A complete list of delays and closing is available from TribLive news partner WTAE.
Road conditions were good, but drivers are advised to watch for areas of refreezing.
In Pittsburgh, warming centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Relatively warmer weather is expected this weekend, with temperatures rising into the upper 30s to mid 40s, Dougherty said.
No one hurt in Shadyside shooting
Pittsburgh police were investigating after shots were fired in Shadyside on Monday afternoon.
According to police, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 5500 block of Centre Avenue around 2:30 p.m.
The shooting happened in the parking area of a Giant Eagle Market District store, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.
Witnesses said two women were involved in an altercation leading up to shots being fired. There were no reported injuries, police said.
Missing woman in Butler County deemed at risk
A woman reported missing from Summit Township in Butler County may be at special risk of harm or injury, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Carley Cahall, 45, was reported missing Feb. 13. She was last seen in the area of the 800 block of Herman Road around 3 a.m. Police did not detail why she is considered at-risk.
Cahall is described as 5 foot 2, 120 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing a black coat with pink piping and a white beanie hat.
Anyone with information about Cahall is asked to contact police immediately by calling 911 or state police at 724-284-8100.
