A man had cocaine in his system and was driving more than 100 miles an hour when he caused a fatal crash in Homestead in July, police said Wednesday as they announced criminal charges.

Jesus Luciano, 37, of the Homestead area was charged with homicide by vehicle and other offenses in the July 3, 2024, death of Lynn Reynolds, 47, of Duquesne.

Allegheny County Police said Luciano had a suspended license from a previous arrest when he crossed a double yellow line in his SUV and smashed head-on into a sedan driven by Reynolds.

The crash, which involved five vehicles with 10 occupants — nine of whom were taken to the hospital — happened around 7:48 a.m.

Toxicology reports showed Luciano had cocaine in his system, police said.

Luciano is also charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed, and recklessly endangering another person.
