The 97th Academy Awards will take place this Sunday, honoring the best and brightest in film from this past year. The ceremony will air at 7 p.m. on ABC and will also stream on Hulu, YouTubeTV, AT&T TV and FuboTV. But before they roll out the red carpet, you have the weekend to catch up on all the nominees that you’ve missed.

Whether you’d prefer to venture to a movie theater to watch movies on the silver screen or settle in for a streaming marathon, here’s where Western Pennsylvanians can see the films nominated this year for Best Picture.

‘Emilia Pérez’

Leading the pack this year with 13 nominations, “Emilia Pérez” stars Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez. The musical crime film follows the stories of three women in Mexico trying to live life unapologetically as themselves. “Emilia Pérez” is streaming on Netflix, but for those committed to the theater experience, there are limited showings on Saturday at Cinemark theaters in Pittsburgh’s North Hills and in Robinson Township.

‘The Brutalist’

This epic drama netted 10 nominations for this year’s Academy Awards. It follows a Hungarian Jewish Holocaust survivor in his postwar move to the United States and his efforts to achieve the American dream through his visionary architecture. Starring Adrian Brody, Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce, the film grabbed the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture — Drama. “The Brutalist” isn’t streaming for free, but it can be rented on platforms including Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and Fandango at Home. There are also limited showtimes this weekend at some theaters, including AMC Westmoreland 15, AMC Waterfront 22 and the Manor Theatre in Squirrel Hill.

‘Anora’

Nominated for six awards, “Anora” tells the story of the tumultuous marriage between an escort and the son of a Russian oligarch. The dramedy stars Mikey Madison and Mark Eydelshteyn. You can rent or purchase the film on-demand on services including Apple TV, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and Google Play Movie. There are also some showtimes at local theaters, such as the AMC Westmoreland 15, AMC Waterfront 22 and The Lindsay Theater in Sewickley.

‘Conclave’

This political drama thriller examines the complicated, scandalous process of electing a new Pope through the eyes of the cardinals who choose them. The star-studded cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Isabella Rossellini, Stanley Tucci and John Lithgow. “Conclave” will be vying for eight awards at Sunday night’s ceremony. Subscribers to Peacock can stream the movie, and it is also available for rent or purchase on YouTube, Fandango at Home, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play and Apple TV. A handful of theatrical showtimes are scattered across AMC Westmoreland 15, the Manor Theatre in Squirrel Hill, AMC Waterfront 22 and Cinemark locations in Pittsburgh’s North Hills and in Robinson Township.

‘The Substance’

Horror fans rejoice! “The Substance” has been nominated for five Academy Awards, including one Best Actress nomination for star Demi Moore. In addition to Moore, the film stars Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid. The plot concerns an aging Hollywood star who takes a black market drug to regain her youth — with unexpected effects. It can be streamed with a subscription on Mubi, and also rented or purchased on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and Fandango at Home. Some Saturday showtimes at Cinemark theaters in Pittsburgh’s North Hills and Robinson Township will provide some last-minute big-screen opportunities to watch the film.

‘Wicked’

This blockbuster musical movie, starring Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande and a slew of supporting stars, scored 10 Oscar nominations. This first of two parts tells the tale of Elphaba — a young woman who will eventually become the Wicked Witch of the West in “The Wizard of Oz” — and her unlikely friendship with Glinda. “Wicked” is currently available for rent or purchase at Fandango at Home, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Google Play Movie. A pair of showtimes are available at each of the North Hills and Robinson Township Cinemark theaters on Saturday.

‘Dune: Part Two’

The highly-anticipated second part of “Dune,” based on the science fiction novel by Frank Herbert, received five Oscar nominations. It completes the story of Paul Atreides and his journey on the planet Arrakis that began in 2021’s “Part One.” The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and many other big-name actors. Watch “Dune: Part Two” this weekend on Netflix or Max, or rent/buy on YouTube, Fandango at Home, Google Play, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

‘A Complete Unknown’

This biopic of folk music legend Bob Dylan got eight Oscars nominations. It stars Timothée Chalamet as Dylan, Edward Norton as folk singer Pete Seeger and Elle Fanning, among others. “A Complete Unknown” is available to buy or rent on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube TV, Google Play and Fandango at Home. There are also showtimes this weekend at the Manor Theatre in Squirrel Hill, the AMC theater in Mt. Lebanon and the Cinemark in Pittsburgh’s North Hills.

‘Nickel Boys’

Based on the 2019 novel by Colson Whitehead, this historical drama is nominated for two Oscars. The film follows the friendship of two Black boys during their tenure at an abusive and corrupt reform school and stars Ethan Herisse and Brandon Wilson. Sreaming services Fubo and MGM have the movie available for subscribers, and it can be bought or rented on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and Google Play. You can catch it at the Lindsay Theater in Sewickley this weekend, as well.

‘I’m Still Here’

This drama centers on a woman in Brazil in the 1970s who is forced to start over with her family after her husband, a politician who is against the country’s military regime, is disappeared. The film is based on a true story and stars Fernanda Torres and Selton Mello. This Brazilian movie has gained steam in the United States after its recent theatrical release and netted three Oscar nominations. While “I’m Still Here” will not be available on streaming until after the Academy Awards, you can catch it at the Manor Theatre this weekend.
