In a defensive battle, Tiernan McCullough put up 13 points to lead Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to a 41-35 victory over Union in the PIAA Class 2A boys basketball second round Wednesday night.

Lucca Grisafi added 11 and Austin Avsec contributed 10 for the Chargers (21-7), who, after only scoring 11 first-half points, held the Scotties to single-digit point totals in every quarter but the second to come away with the victory. Landon Eckert led all scorers with 23 points and sank seven 3-pointers for Union (20-8). OLSH will play Sewickley Academy in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Aliquippa 64, Mercer 37 – Josh Pratt dropped 30 points to lead Aliquippa (22-5) to a win over District 10 champion Mercer (14-12) in the second round of the PIAA Class 3A playoffs. Rider Chiappini scored 11 and Tristan McCracken added 10 for the Mustangs. The Quips will take on District 6 champion Forest Hills in the quarterfinals Saturday.

Camp Hill Trinity 84, Shady Side Academy 46 – District 3 champion Camp Hill Trinity (21-3) rolled Shady Side (14-14) in the PIAA Class 3A second round. Trinity will play WPIAL champion South Allegheny in the quarterfinals Saturday.

Forest Hills 59, Mohawk 45 – Dylan Stohon dropped 26 points and Bradon Gregovich tallied 11 to lead District 6 champion Forest Hills (25-2) to a PIAA Class 3A second-round victory over Mohawk (20-7). Bobby Fadden sank a pair of 3s and finished with 18 points while Drew Wrona drained three 3s and had 10 points for the Warriors. Forest Hills will play WPIAL runner-up Aliquippa in the quarterfinals Saturday.

Northgate 65, Clarion 37 – Tylan Daniels put up 25 points and Kadenne Kemp tallied 14 as Northgate (17-11) dispatched District 9 runner-up Clarion (20-8) in the second round of the PIAA Class 2A playoffs. Heading into the fourth quarter up 10 points, the Flames outscored Clarion 24-6 to advance to play District 4 champion Northwest in Saturday’s quarterfinals. Dylan Smail scored 10 points to pace Clarion.

Sewickley Academy 56, Lakeview 35 – Mamadou Kane led all scorers with 22 points as Sewickley Academy (22-5) beat District 10 champion Lakeview (22-6) in the second round of the PIAA Class 2A playoffs. Lucas Fagley produced 11 points for Lakeview. Sewickley Academy will take on OLSH in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Upper St. Clair 50, Governor Mifflin 38 – Jake Foster dropped 22 points and Tyler Robbins finished with 12 as Upper St. Clair (25-2) outscored Governor Mifflin (20-9) 26-21 in the second half to claim victory in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs. The Panthers advance to Saturday’s quarterfinals where they will face District 10 champion McDowell.

Girls basketball

Bishop Guifoyle 58, Aquinas Academy 27 – Amberlyn Petrecca scored 13 points, Gia Adams sank three 3-pointers and finished with nine points and Morgan Ruggery also chipped in nine as Bishop Guilfoye (17-2) defeated Aquinas Academy (17-9) in the second round of the PIAA Class A playoffs. Elliot Keverline led the Crusaders with 16 points and Tess Duer added another eight. Bishop Guilfoyle will play Saint Joseph’s Academy in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Blackhawk 58, Clearfield 32 – Mia Sheesley scored 22 points, hitting three 3-pointers, to lead Blackhawk (25-3) to a Class 4A second-round victory. Aubree Hupp added 18 points and Alivia Rabick finished with 10 for the Cougars, who will play North Catholic in Saturday’s quarterfinals. Sonny Diehl scored 14 points and Eve Helsel added 13 for District 9 champion Clearfield (19-6).

North Catholic 57, Harbor Creek 33 – Sarah Loughry recorded a triple-double with 12 points, 10 assists and 10 steals while Brady Wehner dropped 18 points to lead North Catholic (24-4) to a Class 4A second-round win over District 10 champion Harbor Creek (22-5). Brooke Przbylski led the Huskies with 10 points. North Catholic advances to play WPIAL runner-up Blackhawk in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Oakland Catholic 75, Elizabeth Forward 48 – Josie Fonatana dropped 16 points, London Creach followed with 15, Zephaniah Troxler-Scott added 11 and Alayla Bivins scored 10 as Oakland Catholic (25-3) defeated Elizabeth Forward (20-8) in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. The Eagles led 35-21 at halftime and outscored the Warriors 22-14 in the third quarter to pull away. Michelle Jellison put up 14 points and Kaelynn Settles produced 10 for Elizabeth Forward. Oakland Catholic will take on Lansdale Catholic in the quarterfinals Saturday.

South Fayette 70, West York 41 – Juliette Leroux led all scorers with 20 points, Ryan Oldaker produced 12, Haylie Lamonde added 11 and Ella Vierra finished with 10 as South Fayette (26-2) jumped out to an early 32-9 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a Class 5A second-round win over West York (21-8). Maya Shah paced the Bulldogs with 13 points. South Fayette will face District 6 champion Hollidaysburg in Saturday’s quarterfinals.
