The mysterious, creepy “Box Demon” spotted on Ring doorbell footage in York County has been identified, police said.

On Tuesday, a woman called the Northern York County Regional Police Department to report a suspicious person — who showed up unannounced at her home and proclaimed to be the “Box Demon” before leaving an empty Amazon box at her door as a “gift” and disappearing into the night, according to a news release.

The incident took place in the first block of E. 10th Ave. early Tuesday morning in North York Borough, police said.

According to Ring doorbell footage released by police, the “Box Demon” was dressed in a tie-dye hooded sweatshirt with a large flower-looking mask with a colorful array of petals.

The mask, made out of a paper plate, had large teeth and giant grin reminiscent of the evil killer clown Pennywise from the film It, People reported.

But social media users believe the “Box Demon” is a reference to Dandy from the video game “Roblox,” who is also depicted as a colorful flower.

Police said the homeowner did not recognize the person, or know what the mask or the term “Box Demon” was to represent.

York County residents are safe from the “Box Demon” as of Wednesday, according to police.

Police said they identified and spoke to the “Box Demon,” and there are “no public safety concerns.”

“The homeowner who had the box placed on her doorstep was made aware of the identification and does not wish to speak any further regarding this incident,” police said in a news release.

The homeowner spoke to WGAL. She was not pleased.

“I’m angry. I don’t know who would be too happy with having somebody ringing your doorbell at 4:22 in the morning. Like, do something constructive with yourself. I know I didn’t do nothing to this so-called person who runs around with the paper plate on their face. Go find something else to do.”

She said police fingerprinted the doorbell.
