We want to thank Rep. Abigail Salisbury for voting “no” on the amendment to House Bill 362 that would have drastically weakened Pennsylvania’s net metering policy and back-tracked years of bipartisan efforts. Pennsylvania is 22nd in the country for solar, based on the Solar Energy Industries Association.
Net metering is the first step in making solar energy possible for families, farms and municipalities in Salisbury’s district, and throughout the commonwealth. Net metering, how utilities credit solar-equipped homes for energy they export to the grid, allows our communities to earn their fair credit for the energy they produce locally, which supports our aging grid and creates more resilient communities.
The anti-net metering amendment threatened the future of solar in Pennsylvania. We support the Solar for All program, and the protection of net metering. A “no” vote on this amendment was the bold step needed to ensure a more resilient grid with clean, local solar power is available to all Pennsylvanians.
Thanks to Salisbury for standing with her constituents and supporting an inclusive, resilient energy future.
