The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled forward Matt Nieto from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League under emergency roster conditions Tuesday morning.

Nieto was assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on March 21 after shuffling between the NHL and AHL for much of the month as a result of paper transactions.

The 32-year-old winger has appeared in 31 games for the Penguins this season, scoring a goal with two assists in 12 minutes, 14 seconds of nightly ice time.

He last suited up for the club Feb. 23 and was placed on waivers Feb. 26.

With Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Nieto has contributed three goals with four assists in 15 contests.

Nieto is in the final year of a two-year contract worth $900,000 annually.

He began this season on long-term injured reserve after undergoing surgeries to both knees that limited him to 22 games in 2023-24.
