Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 33 saves on 36 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, who dropped their final road contest of the regular season, a 4-2 loss to the rival Hershey Bears at the Giant Center in Hershey on Friday.

The result dropped Blomqvist’s record to 8-7-3.

Forward Jack Beck had a goal and and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (39-24-7-1, 86 points) while linemate Gabe Klassen contributed two assists.

Penguins defensemen Mac Hollowell, Owen Pickering and Jack St. Ivany as well as forward Emil Bemstrom were scratched due to undisclosed injuries, according to the team’s radio broadcast.

The Penguins’ regular season finale is a home contest against the Cleveland Monsters on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.


The Wheeling Nailers were shut out by the Norfolk Admirals, 4-0, in Game 2 of a North Division semifinal series at the Norfolk (Va.) Scope on Thursday.

Norfolk, which won Game 1, 4-0, leads the best-of-seven series, 2-0.

Nailers goaltender Sergei Murashov made 25 saves on 28 shots in the loss.
