PennDOT announced nearly a month of weeknight closures of the Parkway East eastbound in Pittsburgh, set to begin Monday night and run through late May.
The overnight closures on Interstate 376 will last Mondays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. at the Birmingham Bridge. An additional overnight closure is scheduled from May 9 through noon May 10.
Crews will be working on the Oakland off-ramp over I-376, detouring all outbound traffic to the Forbes Avenue/Oakland off-ramp. From there, drivers can merge onto Forbes Avenue, turn right onto Craft Avenue, turn left onto Boulevard of the Allies, turn right onto Bates Street and then take the ramp to I-376 East toward Monroeville.
PennDOT said no closures will occur during Pirates evening home games.
The project includes preservation work on two Boulevard of the Allies bridges and several ramps at the interchange as part of a $35.41 million project, PennDOT said. Work will include bridge deck repairs, expansion dam replacements, repairs to the steel superstructure and substructure, full painting, drainage repairs, signing upgrades and other maintenance.
