Pittsburgh police take man in custody after stand-off

On Sunday morning, Pittsburgh police took a man into custody following a SWAT situation in the city’s Lincoln Place neighborhood.

Police reported SWAT activity in the 5700 block of Mifflin Road after a reported physical domestic incident. The woman was outside the house, but a man was refusing to leave the building.

The man surrendered by 7:37 a.m. and was taken into custody.

Charges are pending, according to public safety officials.


Driver injured after car goes over Lawrence County embankment

An 18-year-old driver was taken to the hospital Sunday after he lost control of his vehicle and went over an embankment in Lawrence County.

The man was driving on Wampum Road when he lost control, went over a 30-foot embankment and became trapped after his vehicle rolled over and landed on its roof, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.

The driver, who was not identified, called 911. Responders from multiple fire departments worked to rescue the man.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Trauma Center in Youngstown, WTAE reported.

An investigation is underway.
