The WPIAL has postponed Wednesday’s softball championships to another day.

Rain initially led the WPIAL to push back start times for the Class 4A, 5A and 6A finals while trying to wait out the wet weather at PennWest California. But the league announced shortly after 2 p.m. that the three title games were postponed.

The WPIAL said a new date and times would be announced later Wednesday.

The Class 4A final between Blackhawk and Hampton — originally scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. — had entered a rain delay more than 40 minutes before first pitch. That delay had also forced the WPIAL to push back scheduled start times for the two other finals (Class 6A and 5A) scheduled later Wednesday at Lilley Field.

Now, all three games will be played at a later date.

Hempfield and Seneca Valley are finalists in Class 6A. Penn-Trafford and Shaler will meet in the 5A game.

The Class 3A, 2A and A finals remain scheduled for Thursday at Lilley Field.
