An Ohio man has been named as the suspect behind the distribution last month of antisemitic flyers in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood, Pittsburgh police announced Monday.

Police said they’ve issued more than 160 traffic citations to Jeremy Brokaw, 45, of Zanesville.

He will face a $300 fine for each citation, according to police.

Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Emily Bourne said Peters Township issued the same type of citations for alleged violations there.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh last month said members of a group called the Goyim Defense League distributed flyers the federation deemed “antisemitic and racist.”

The Goyim Defense League is “a small network of virulently antisemitic provocateurs,” according to the Anti-Defamation League.

Officials said flyers — some of which were thrown from one or more cars at Squirrel Hill homes — were found in plastic bags weighted down with corn kernels. People also shouted slurs at Jewish residents.

Local officials condemned the antisemitic flyers, which represented the latest in a string of more than 100 antisemitic incidents reported in Pittsburgh so far this year, according to the federation.
