TSA agent accused of theft at Pittsburgh airport
A Transportation Security Administration agent is accused of stealing money from a passenger during a screening process Wednesday afternoon at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Allegheny County Police said the suspect is Richard Bruce, 39.
Police told TribLive news partner WTAE that Bruce will be charged via summons with misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. The amount of money involved wasn’t disclosed.
A TSA spokesperson told WTAE it is cooperating with law enforcement authorities and that the agent has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation. TSA said it could not provide additional details because of the ongoing investigation.
”TSA holds its employees to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, and we do not tolerate behavior that violates these standards or the public’s trust,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
Police: Mail carrier injured in attempted robbery in Bridgeville
A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier was injured during what police are saying was an attempted armed robbery Wednesday afternoon along McLaughlin Run Road in Bridgeville.
The mail carrier was taken to a hospital for treatment, TribLive news partner WTAE reported. The carrier’s condition wasn’t available.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is leading an investigation. Police from Bridgeville and Upper St. Clair also responded.
JC Penney closing store at Beaver Valley Mall
The JC Penney store at the Beaver Valley Mall is set to close, according to a post on the mall’s Facebook page.
The post indicates that a closing sale is underway, with prices reduced by 20% or more.
Additional details weren’t available from JC Penney.
Closure of the store had been proposed in 2020 but was averted.
