Two people in a Jeep SUV were injured after it careened over a Highland Park hillside and into the woods Monday afternoon, police said.

The accident scene was at Reservoir Drive and Farmhouse Drive.

First responders found an adult female driver and an adult male passenger trapped in the SUV about 40 feet down the embankment, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials.

Paramedics rescued the pair with a rope system and edraulic tools, which were used to remove the vehicle’s doors.

The man and woman were pulled up the hillside in a Stokes basket while being tended to by paramedics.

Both were taken away in an ambulance, in stable condition, shortly before 5 p.m.

It’s unclear how far the car traveled.

At 5:30 p.m., a tow truck company pulled the mangled red Jeep from the wooded hill.
