Latrobe’s American Legion baseball team got another strong pitching performance, this time by Joe Razza, and defeated rival Hempfield East, 2-1, in a Region 7 winners’ bracket game Monday at Forest Hills High School in Sidman.

Razza allowed one run and on seven hits. East’s run was scored in the sixth inning when Ty Martin doubled and scored on a single by Quinn Wilkins.

Latrobe took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Cayden McCune singled to center. He advanced to second on a one-out single by Jack Stynchula. Ty Wisniewski loaded the bases with a single.

McCune scored on a wild pitch, and Stynchula scored on a hit by Mason Hrubes.

Razza walked one and struck out six. The loss went to Josh Cayer, who allowed five hits and fanned six.

Colin Polechko had two hits for East.

Hempfield East will face Claysburg at 2 p.m., and Latrobe battles Bushy Run at 5.

Bushy Run 6, Philipsburg 0 — Brandon Roher tossed a one-hit shutout, and Bushy Run rebounded from a tough loss Sunday to eliminate Philipsburg.

Andrew McFarlane drove in two runs with a single, Jon Lovre had three hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Carmen Metcalfe also had two hits.

Brody Hoffman and Noah Rattigan also drove in runs.

Roher threw 69 pitches and allowed a single to Tanner Kephart.

Claysburg 2, Lower Burrell 0 — Treon Strong tossed a three-hit shutout, and Claysburg stayed alive in the Region 7 tournament by eliminating Lower Burrell.

Lucas Black drove in both runs for Claysburg.

Henry Krogh had two hits for Lower Burrell. Noah Matson was the losing pitcher in relief of Tylar Hanley, who pitched three scoreless innings.
