A body was found in the Monongahela River in Pittsburgh Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Pittsburgh police, river rescue and emergency medical services were dispatched at 3:30 p.m. to the area surrounding the 10th Street Bridge in response to reports of a body in the water.

Upon arrival, first responders found a deceased individual in the Monongahela River, Eliza Durham, a Pittsburgh police spokeswomen said.

Late afternoon, the identity of the victim was still unclear and police were working to determine the age and gender of the deceased, she said.

Durham said the cause and manner of death have yet to be determined by a medical examiner.
