Liam Corcoran scored on a 3-yard run with 15 seconds left in the game to give Class 4A No. 5 Mars a 17-13 win at Class 5A No. 5 Bethel Park (1-1) in a nonconference football game Friday night in the South Hills.
Corcoran then intercepted a pass on the ensuing drive to seal the win.
Ayden Yocum ran for 195 yards for Mars (2-0).
David Dennison rushed for 148 yards for Bethel Park.

Armstrong 35, Hampton 28 — Costa Couknas ran for 177 yards and three touchdowns as Class 5A Armstrong (1-1) rallied to defeat Class 4A Hampton (1-1). Deo Beck threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns for Armstrong, which trailed 20-14 heading into the fourth quarter.
Avella 7, Carlynton 6 — Class A Avella (2-0) scored a second-quarter touchdown and made it last in its win at Class 2A Carlynton (1-1).
Beaver 50, Blackhawk 27 — Jonah Justice ran for 184 yards and four touchdowns as Class 3A Beaver (1-1) defeated Class 4A Blackhawk (1-1). Beaver’s Travis Clear threw for 212 yards and a touchdown to Philip Marino, who caught four passes for 111 yards. Brayden McCarthy rushed for 327 yards and three touchdowns for Blackhawk. The game was tied at seven at halftime.
Burgettstown 23, Bentworth 20 — Burgettstown (1-0) edged out Bentworth (1-1) in a nonconference matchup.
Butler 48, Brashear 24 — Mark Klemz rushed for 176 yards and four touchdowns as Butler (2-0) beat Brashear (0-2) in nonconference play. Nicolas Baggetta threw for 115 yards and ran for a touchdown for Butler. David Kessler threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns for Brashear.
California 36, Cornell 32 — Malachi Peak rushed for 147 yards and one touchdown to lead California (2-0) to the nonconference win against Cornell (1-1). Khylil Johnson caught four passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns and threw for two TDs for Cornell.
Carmichaels 38, Sto-Rox 20 — Cannon Bupka rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns to lead Class A Carmichaels (1-0) to the win against Class 2A Sto-Rox (0-2).
Chartiers-Houston 42, Springdale 8 — Aaron Walsh threw for 117 yards, ran for 60 yards and three touchdowns and scored on a 75-yard kickoff return to lead Chartiers-Houston (1-1) to the nonconference win against Springdale (0-1). Wesley Hickman scored on a 31-yard run for the Dynamos.
Chartiers Valley 29, West Allegheny 28 (OT) — Julius Best scored in overtime, followed by a successful 2-point conversion by Damien Holloway, as Chartiers Valley (1-1) defeated West Allegheny (0-1) in nonconference play. Best finished with two touchdowns, and Owen Weagraf threw three TD passes. Tayshaun Lewis had a touchdown run for the Colts.
Clairton 79, Serra 0 — Class A No. 2 Clairton (1-1) won big over Serra Catholic (0-2) in a nonconference game.
Ellwood City 21, Shenango 0 — Class 2A Ellwood City (1-1) held Class A Shenango (0-2) to 43 total yards, including just 12 rushing yards in a nonconference victory. Tyler Smiley threw for 79 yards and two touchdowns while Richard Cureton ran for 77 yards and one TD.
Fort Cherry 40, OLSH 0 — Matt Sieg scored on a pair of 6-yard runs and returned an interception 84 yards for another touchdown as Class A No. 1 Fort Cherry (2-0) shut out Class 2A OLSH (1-1).
Fox Chapel 48, Baldwin 14 — Joe Geller threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns as Fox Chapel (1-1) beat Baldwin (0-2) in nonconference play. Max Melocchi ran for two touchdowns and caught three passes for 86 yards and one TD for Fox Chapel. Baldwin’s Noah Mickolay completed 10 passes — all to Noah Saccani — for 158 yards.
Freedom 18, Rochester 0 — Karter Brown ran for two touchdowns and Charles Brenckle scored on a 56-yard fumble return as Class 2A Freedom (1-1) shut out Class A Rochester (0-2).
Hopewell 31, New Castle 6 — James Armstrong threw for 229 yards and ran for 109 yards and four touchdowns to lead Class 3A No. 3 Hopewell (2-0) to the win against Class 4A New Castle (1-1). Kai Cox caught five passes for 117 yards and New Castle’s touchdown.
Imani Christian 58, Beaver Falls 0 — David Davis caught four passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns and returned an interception 42 yards for another score as Class 3A No. 2 Imani Christian (2-0) blanked Class 2A Beaver Falls (0-2). David Campbell added an interception return for a touchdown while Gabe Jenkins threw for 228 yards and two TDs.
Jeannette 35, Apollo-Ridge 22 – Kymon’e Brown threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns as Class A No. 5 Jeannette (1-1) defeated Class 2A Apollo-Ridge (1-1). Alexander Clawson tossed for 254 yards and one touchdown and ran for another TD for Apollo-Ridge.
Jefferson-Morgan 57, Waynesburg Central 30 — Deakyn Dehoet rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns, caught a scoring pass and returned a kick 85 yards for another TD to lead Class A Jefferson-Morgan (2-0) to the win against Class 2A Waynesburg Central (1-1).
Laurel 36, Mohawk 6 — Luca Santini tossed for 113 yards and a touchdown as Class A Laurel (2-0) upset Class 2A No. 5 Mohawk (1-1). Joshua Sherman ran for two touchdowns and Brayden Faulkner scored on a 92-yard kickoff return to start the second half for Laurel.
Laurel Highlands 12, Ambridge 7 — Marion Jones and Nucholas Crouch scored touchdowns for Laurel Highlands (2-0) in its nonconference win against Ambridge (0-2). Martese Priest returned the opening kick 89 yards for a touchdown for Ambridge.
Leechburg 58, Beth-Center 6 — In nonconference play, Tim Andrasy ran for 310 yards and six touchdowns to lead Leechburg (1-1) to victory at Beth-Center (0-2). Andrasy also returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown.
Mapletown 22, Frazier 21 — In a nonconference matchup, Carson Vanata ran for 161 yards and two touchdowns as Mapletown (1-1) scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to defeat Frazier (1-1). Brady Secrest threw for 153 yards and ran for a touchdown for Frazier.

North Catholic 69, Knoch 10 — Joey Felitsky threw for 206 yards and four touchdowns as Class 3A North Catholic (2-0) downed Class 4A Knoch (0-2). Max Wiley scored on a 2-yard run, and Austin Friedline kicked a 28-yard field goal for Knoch.
Penn-Trafford 26, Mt. Lebanon 18 — Nate Desmond threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns to Nick Ponko as Class 5A Penn-Trafford (2-0) defeated Class 6A No. 5 Mt. Lebanon (0-2). Ponko caught eight passes for 151 yards. Pat Smith ran for all three Mt. Lebanon touchdowns.

Riverside 36, Northgate 30 — Aidan Gaydosz threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a TD as Class 2A Riverside (1-1) defeated Class A Northgate (0-2). Hunter Garcia caught four passes for 139 yards and one touchdown for Riverside. Devontae Smith threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 124 yards and a TD to pace Northgate’s offense.
Seneca Valley 38, North Hills 10 — Greg Grupp had two touchdowns as Class 6A Seneca Valley (1-1) beat Class 5A North Hills (0-2). Kelly McCarthy threw for 133 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
South Allegheny 49, Brentwood 6 — Joey Gamret rushed for 77 yards as Class 2A No. 4 South Allegheny (2-0) gained 304 yards on the ground in its win over Class A Brentwood (0-2). South Allegheny led at halftime, 42-0. Griffen Betz ran for 79 yards and Brentwood’s only touchdown.
South Fayette 35, Shaler 27 — Bo Stover scored on a pair of 90-yard kickoff returns and on two runs as South Fayette (2-0) beat Shaler (0-2) in nonconference play. Drew Welhorsky threw for 96 yards and a touchdown and ran for 169 yards for South Fayette. Aaron Aversa threw for 156 yards and a touchdown for Shaler.
Southmoreland 49, East Allegheny 7 — Dawson Wolfe threw for 116 yards and four touchdowns as Southmoreland (2-0) scored 36 points in the second quarter in its nonconference win at East Allegheny (0-2). Makel Darnell caught two touchdown passes and returned an interception for another TD. Cedric Mack tossed for 152 yards and East Allegheny’s only touchdown.
