Liam Corcoran scored on a 3-yard run with 15 seconds left in the game to give Class 4A No. 5 Mars a 17-13 win at Class 5A No. 5 Bethel Park (1-1) in a nonconference football game Friday night in the South Hills.

Corcoran then intercepted a pass on the ensuing drive to seal the win.

Ayden Yocum ran for 195 yards for Mars (2-0).

David Dennison rushed for 148 yards for Bethel Park.

Avella 7, Carlynton 6 — Class A Avella (2-0) scored a second-quarter touchdown and made it last in its win at Class 2A Carlynton (1-1).

Beaver 50, Blackhawk 27 — Jonah Justice ran for 184 yards and four touchdowns as Class 3A Beaver (1-1) defeated Class 4A Blackhawk (1-1). Beaver’s Travis Clear threw for 212 yards and a touchdown to Philip Marino, who caught four passes for 111 yards. Brayden McCarthy rushed for 327 yards and three touchdowns for Blackhawk. The game was tied at seven at halftime.

Burgettstown 23, Bentworth 20 — Burgettstown (1-0) edged out Bentworth (1-1) in a nonconference matchup.

Butler 48, Brashear 24 — Mark Klemz rushed for 176 yards and four touchdowns as Butler (2-0) beat Brashear (0-2) in nonconference play. Nicolas Baggetta threw for 115 yards and ran for a touchdown for Butler. David Kessler threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns for Brashear.

California 36, Cornell 32 — Malachi Peak rushed for 147 yards and one touchdown to lead California (2-0) to the nonconference win against Cornell (1-1). Khylil Johnson caught four passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns and threw for two TDs for Cornell.

Carmichaels 38, Sto-Rox 20 — Cannon Bupka rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns to lead Class A Carmichaels (1-0) to the win against Class 2A Sto-Rox (0-2).

Chartiers Valley 29, West Allegheny 28 (OT) — Julius Best scored in overtime, followed by a successful 2-point conversion by Damien Holloway, as Chartiers Valley (1-1) defeated West Allegheny (0-1) in nonconference play. Best finished with two touchdowns, and Owen Weagraf threw three TD passes. Tayshaun Lewis had a touchdown run for the Colts.

Clairton 79, Serra 0 — Class A No. 2 Clairton (1-1) won big over Serra Catholic (0-2) in a nonconference game.

Ellwood City 21, Shenango 0 — Class 2A Ellwood City (1-1) held Class A Shenango (0-2) to 43 total yards, including just 12 rushing yards in a nonconference victory. Tyler Smiley threw for 79 yards and two touchdowns while Richard Cureton ran for 77 yards and one TD.

Fort Cherry 40, OLSH 0 — Matt Sieg scored on a pair of 6-yard runs and returned an interception 84 yards for another touchdown as Class A No. 1 Fort Cherry (2-0) shut out Class 2A OLSH (1-1).

Fox Chapel 48, Baldwin 14 — Joe Geller threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns as Fox Chapel (1-1) beat Baldwin (0-2) in nonconference play. Jeannette 35, Apollo-Ridge 22 – Kymon’e Brown threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns as Class A No. 5 Jeannette (1-1) defeated Class 2A Apollo-Ridge (1-1). Alexander Clawson tossed for 254 yards and one touchdown and ran for another TD for Apollo-Ridge.

Jefferson-Morgan 57, Waynesburg Central 30 — Deakyn Dehoet rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns, caught a scoring pass and returned a kick 85 yards for another TD to lead Class A Jefferson-Morgan (2-0) to the win against Class 2A Waynesburg Central (1-1).

Laurel 36, Mohawk 6 — Luca Santini tossed for 113 yards and a touchdown as Class A Laurel (2-0) upset Class 2A No. 5 Mohawk (1-1). Joshua Sherman ran for two touchdowns and Brayden Faulkner scored on a 92-yard kickoff return to start the second half for Laurel.

Seneca Valley 38, North Hills 10 — Greg Grupp had two touchdowns as Class 6A Seneca Valley (1-1) beat Class 5A North Hills (0-2). Kelly McCarthy threw for 133 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

South Allegheny 49, Brentwood 6 — Joey Gamret rushed for 77 yards as Class 2A No. 4 South Allegheny (2-0) gained 304 yards on the ground in its win over Class A Brentwood (0-2). South Allegheny led at halftime, 42-0. Griffen Betz ran for 79 yards and Brentwood’s only touchdown.

South Fayette 35, Shaler 27 — Bo Stover scored on a pair of 90-yard kickoff returns and on two runs as South Fayette (2-0) beat Shaler (0-2) in nonconference play.
