Threatening letters sent to Jewish organizations in Pittsburgh area

The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh said threatening letters were sent to several Jewish organizations in the Pittsburgh area, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.

The letters were sent by mail, according to Shawn Brokos, who serves as the organization’s community security director.

“While deeply disturbing, we want to assure our community that safety and security remain our top priority,” Brokos said in a statement.

He said the FBI and local law enforcement are investigating. The federation’s security team is also monitoring the situation.

“Our federation’s security team continues to monitor the situation closely and is working to ensure that all Jewish institutions remain protected,” Brokos said.
