Rain on Sunday wiped out the planned semifinals and championship games of the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Softball League playoff tournament.

Top seed Montour, No. 2 Bethel Park, No. 4 Hempfield and No. 3 North Allegheny all advanced and will now decide the title Saturday at McIntyre Field in Ross Township.

Montour will face Hempfield in the first semifinal at 11:30 a.m., with Bethel Park and North Allegheny to follow at 1:30 p.m.

The winners will meet for the title at 3:30.

Montour is hoping to win its third consecutive league championship and sixth overall.

North Allegheny finished runner-up to Shaler in 2022 and captured the 2020 championship. The Tigers won the title in the league’s first season in 2006.

Bethel Park won the 2022 title.

Montour and Bethel Park split a doubleheader Oct. 12 to finish up the regular season. Both teams went into the games undefeated at 12-0.

The games were close as expected as both were one-run results. Bethel Park won the first game, 4-3, and Montour came back with a 4-3 win in Game 2.

North Allegheny, Hempfield and North Hills all finished tied in the final regular-season standings, and the Tigers won the tiebreaker for the No. 3 seed.

Mt. Pleasant, which finished 4-10 overall, decided to opt out of the tournament, leaving just 11 teams to vie for the title.
