Central Catholic offensive lineman James Halter committed Wednesday to Notre Dame, making him the second member of his family to choose the Fighting Irish.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound tackle is rated as a four-star prospect and ranked as the 10th-best junior in Pennsylvania, according to Rivals. He had nearly two dozen college offers including Pitt, Penn State and West Virginia, along with Top 25 schools Ohio State, Indiana and Vanderbilt.
Recruiting outlets project him as an interior offensive lineman in college.
Halter was a blocking tight end for Central Catholic last season before moving to tackle. The Vikings are defending WPIAL Class champions and ranked No. 1 this year.
His father, Jordan, also played on the offensive line for Notre Dame.
