Just days ago, thieves pulled off a stunning heist at the Louvre in Paris, stealing historic jewelry valued at an estimated 88 million euros.

The robbery occurred Sunday when hooded assailants broke through a second-floor window using a stolen movers’ lift before making off with jewels from the royal collection, Reuters reported.

Already, the heist has become an online sensation — with multiple trends and memes popping up across social media platforms.

Namely, there’s been a trend to watch heist-related movies following the Louvre break-in. The New York Times even published a list of six heist movies it recommended for viewing.

“If you thought that heist at the Louvre sounded like something out of a movie, this collection of heist films just might be for you,” the article says.

The suggestions were:

  • “How to Steal a Million” (1996)
  • “The Thomas Crown Affair” (1999)
  • “The Great Muppet Caper” (1981)
  • “Hudson Hawk” (1991)
  • “Ocean’s 8” (2018)
  • “The Mastermind” (2025)
