Owen Householder scored a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, as No. 5 Thomas Jefferson defeated No. 2 Bethel Park, 3-2, in the Class 3A third-place match Thursday to claim the WPIAL’s final berth in the PIAA playoffs, which begin Tuesday.

Evan Olsen scored in the first half for the Jaguars (18-3-1). Xavier Jackson scored the tying goal in the final minute of regulation and Youssef Benrabia also scored for the Black Hawks (14-4-3).

Allderdice 3, DuBois 1 – Ethan Voight-Cherna set up goals by Luca Fuerte, Michael Bishop and Julian Dixon-Webster as Allderdice (14-5) defeated DuBois in a PIAA Class 3A subregional match.

Girls soccer

Springdale 3, Waynesburg 1 – Hailey Marchlewski scored a pair of second-half goals to break open a tied game and send No. 4 Springdale to a 3-1 victory over No. 11 Waynesburg in the girls soccer Class A third-place game. With the win, the Dynamos claim the WPIAL’s third and final spot in the PIAA playoffs, which begin Tuesday. Tessa Derringer scored a first-half goal for Springdale (13-2-1). Kolbi Rastoka answered for the Raiders (11-6-2).

Girls volleyball

Mars 3, Hampton 1 – Cecilia Christy had 19 kills and Rylee Wooldridge finished with 16 kills and 10 digs as No. 3 Mars (16-5) claimed the WPIAL’s third and final spot in the PIAA playoffs with a victory over No. 5 Hampton (10-6) in the Class 3A third-place match. Game scores were 25-22, 25-23, 20-25 and 25-18. The state playoffs begin Tuesday. Gabi Weidemann dished out 49 assists and added 12 digs, Alaina Graham had 19 digs and Sabrina Ruiz Gonzalez contributed 18 digs for the Fightin’ Planets.

Waynesburg 3, OLSH 1 – In the Class 2A third-place match, the No. 2 Raiders (15-1) defeated the No. 4 Chargers (14-5) in four games, 25-20, 25-18, 18-25, 25-16.

Hockey

Armstrong 4, Shaler 2 – Jake Graff had a goal and two assists and Rory Pschirer added a goal and an assist to power Armstrong (5-1) to a Class 3A win. Evan Heilman and Hudson Bundy also scored for Armstrong. Matthew Stelitano and Roman Angelo scored for Shaler (1-4).

Blackhawk 8, Freeport 1 – Daniel Ostrom had four goals and an assist to lead Blackhawk (3-0) to a Class A victory. Grant Shroads scored twice, Finn Conlon had a goal and two assists and Tyler Syka dished out three assists for Blackhawk. Aiden Bauman scored for Freeport (2-3).

Carrick 4, Elizabeth Forward 1 – Chris Tomassi had a goal and an assist and Reed Richardson made 32 saves to lead Carrick (1-4) to a Division 2 victory. Max Hagan, Henry Simcox and Ryan Miller also scored for Carrick. Caden Biddle scored for Elizabeth Forward (1-4).

Chartiers Valley 2, North Hills 1 – Darren Strosnider scored a pair of third-period goals and Ben Waldron made 23 saves to lead Chartiers Valley (4-0-1) to a Class A win. Jonathan Trosky scored and Parker Talerico made 37 saves for North Hills (4-1-1).

Connellsville 3, Morgantown 2 – Landon Garlick scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and Liam King and Larry Barrofino also scored for Connellsville (3-1) in a Division 2 win. Brooks Nelson and Cooper Cox scored for Morgantown (3-2-1).

Fox Chapel 5, South Fayette 2 – Tucker Cullen scored a pair of goals and Miles Carey made 39 saves to power Fox Chapel (2-4) to a Class 3A victory. Parker Hanley finished with a goal and two assists, Linden Trac had a goal and an assist and Hayden Trac also scored for Fox Chapel. Mikhail Lobanov had a goal and an assist and Nathaniel Keller also scored for South Fayette (3-3).

Knoch 9, Central Valley 0 – Brady Linamen had a hat trick and Brayden Knauss added two goals and an assist for Knoch (5-3) in a Division 2 win over Central Valley (0-3). Zack Weiland and Peyton McIntyre each had a goal and two assists and Drew Ross dished out three assists for Knoch.

Mars 7, Greensburg Salem 3 – Garrett Myers and Grant Weaver each had two goals and an assist and Jack Tirch added a goal and an assist to send Mars (5-0-1) to a Class A win. Jeremiah Faulk scored twice and Luke Dieter had a goal and an assist for Greensburg Salem (2-5).

North Allegheny 4, Franklin Regional 2 – Anthony Lucas scored twice and Chris Costa made 31 saves to lead North Allegheny (5-0) to a Class 3A win. Liam Diamond and Luke DiRenzo also scored for NA. Grant Williams and Brendan Yohe scored for Franklin Regional (1-3).

Penn-Trafford 2, Latrobe 1 – Sean Goodman scored the tying goal in the first minute of the third period and Brody Parsons netted the game-winner with 3:52 to play as Penn-Trafford (4-1) picked up a Class 2A win. Preston Miller scored a first-period goal and Akos Szep made 25 saves for Latrobe (2-2-1). Tyler Funk stopped 27 shots for Penn-Trafford.

Pine-Richland 4, Upper St. Clair 3 (SO) – Noah Taggert scored twice and Douglas Van Meter added a goal to help Pine-Richland (1-3-1) to a shootout win in Class 3A. Nico Galardini scored the tying goal for Upper St. Clair (1-2-3) with 2:34 left in the third period.

Ringgold 4, McDowell 2 – Brady Lippert scored twice, Anthony Bonari had a goal and two assists and Landon Vaccaro added a goal and an assist for Ringgold (5-1) in a Division 2victory. Ethan Turner and Dylan Payne scored for McDowell (2-2).

Seneca Valley 3, Peters Township 2 (SO) – Carson Lindberg and John Sroka III scored and Chris Nichols made 28 saves to help Seneca Valley5-0 () to a shootout win in Class 3A. Domenic Yosi and Blake Evancic scored and Anthony Herman made 32 saves for Peters Township (3-1-1).

South Park 3, Westmont Hilltop 1 – Josh Jackovic had a goal and an assist and Drew Costello made 30 saves to lead South Park (1-3) to a Class A win. Bo Baumiller and Luke Hawranko also scored for South Park. Cullen Carlson had a goal for Westmont Hilltop (0-4).
