Brackenridge Council will have a special meeting Wednesday to consider a $1.2 million bond to pay for a new public works building.

The meeting will be at 3 p.m. in the borough building on Brackenridge Avenue.

The borough last year applied for a preliminary land development application to replace the current facility that’s about 125 years old. Plans call for a public works facility on Prospect Avenue, next to the existing building.

Amenities include more efficient equipment storage, office and kitchen space, and a generator. Council has been planning for a new public works building since prior to the pandemic.

Over the course of planning, the borough was awarded a $500,000 state grant and $300,000 from the county Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund.

Future phases of work following construction would include stormwater retention, paving and the addition of a salt shed.
