Four champions will be crowned Saturday at the 2025 PIAA girls volleyball championships at Cumberland Valley.

Below is a look at the three matches involving WPIAL teams:

Class 4A championship

Spring-Ford (29-0) vs. Pine-Richland (17-6)

6 p.m. Saturday at Cumberland Valley

Seeds: Spring-Ford 1-1; Pine-Richland 7-2

How they got here: District 1 champion Spring-Ford defeated Upper Dublin, 3-1, in the first round; Emmaus, 3-0, in the quarterfinals; and Bishop Shanahan, 3-1, in the semifinals. WPIAL runner-up Pine-Richland beat State College, 3-0, in the first round; Garnet Valley, 3-0, in the quarterfinals; and Unionville, 3-1, in the semifinals.

PIAA titles: Spring-Ford 0; Pine-Richland 1 (2005)

Service points: Spring-Ford returns to the PIAA championship match after falling to North Allegheny, 3-1, last season. The undefeated Rams won the Pioneer Athletic Conference and District 1 titles. Lila Olsen had 26 kills to lead the Rams in the semifinals. Elle Sossong added 27 kills. … Pine-Richland has made two trips to the PIAA finals, winning in 2005 over Villa Maria and losing to Allentown Central Catholic in 2001. The Rams rebounded from a 3-0 loss to Peters Township in the WPIAL championship match to roll through the PIAA bracket, losing only one set in three matches. Isabelle Hoppe, a senior setter, was named first-team All-WPIAL earlier this month. Junior outside hitter Piper Vogel (second team) and senior libero Megan DeKunder (third team) also were honored. Hoppe, who signed with Pitt volleyball earlier this week, is the second-ranked setter in the nation, according to Prep Dig. She is a Volleymag.com first-team All-American and Under Armour All-American.

Class 3A championship

Pope John Paul II (21-2) vs. Oakland Catholic (23-2)

3:30 p.m. Saturday at Cumberland Valley

Seeds: Pope John Paul II 1-1; Oakland Catholic 7-2

How they got here: District 1 champion Pope John Paul II defeated Carver E&S, 3-0, in the first round; Bethlehem Catholic, 3-0, in the quarterfinals; and Berwick, 3-1, in the semifinals. WPIAL runner-up Oakland Catholic beat Hollidaysburg, 3-0, in the first round; Greencastle-Antrim, 3-0, in the quarterfinals; and Beaver, 3-2, in the semifinals.

PIAA titles: Pope John Paul II 3 (2022, ‘23, ‘24); Oakland Catholic 0

Service points: Pope John Paul II is chasing a fourth straight PIAA title after beating North Catholic in 2022, Hampton in ‘23 and Mars last season. PJP has a deep, seven-member senior class that has been part of the team’s success the past three seasons. The Golden Panthers won the District 1 title. Middle blocker Norah Busch, an N.C. State commit, had 18 kills in the quarterfinals. Middle hitter Haley Maloney and setter Kailey Hudy are other key players for the Golden Panthers. All three were all-state selections last season. … Oakland Catholic is making its first state championship appearance. The Eagles rebounded after losing to Beaver, 3-0, in the WPIAL championship match and then topping the Bobcats, 3-2, in the state semifinals. Senior outside hitter Josie Fontana had 27 kills, and middle blocker Rory O’Connell had 10 kills and 10 blocks to lead Oakland Catholic on Tuesday. Senior right-side hitter Michayla Booth and Fontana were first-team All-WPIAL selections. Senior libero Elena Krummert and junior setter Raegan Mascaro were second-team honorees.

Class 2A championship

Lansdale Catholic (18-6) vs. Avonworth (19-6)

1 p.m. Saturday at Cumberland Valley

Seeds: Lansdale Catholic 12-1; Avonworth 7-1

How they got here: District 12 champion Lansdale Catholic defeated Villa Joseph Marie, 3-0, in the first round; Holy Redeemer, 3-1, in the quarterfinals; and Delone Catholic, 3-0, in the semifinals. WPIAL champion Avonworth beat Cathedral Prep, 3-0, in the first round; Everett, 3-0, in the quarterfinals; and Corry, 3-1, in the semifinals.

Players to watch: Ellie Carickhoff, Lansdale Catholic; Julia Cernich, Avonworth

PIAA titles: Lansdale Catholic 0; Avonworth 0

Service points: Lansdale Catholic is in the PIAA final for the first time after a near-miss last season when it lost to District 3’s Trinity in the state semifinals. Ellie Carickhoffhad 15 kills and Greta Swope had 10 in the semifinal victory. Molly Curran and Rylee Hassinger each had five kills for the Crusaders. … The Lopes have maintained the momentum that carried them through the WPIAL playoffs as the No. 11 seed all the way to the district title. They will play for their first PIAA championship. Avonworth is led by junior Julia Cernich, an outside hitter who is committed to Rice. She had 20 kills in the WPIAL championship victory over Hopewell. Earlier this week, she was named first-team All-WPIAL, along with junior teammate Clementine Dutot-Lucs, an outside/middle hitter. Sophomore setter Ali Colasante was a second-team selection. Additionally, setter Jada Taylor, libero Juliana Geist and middle hitter Camila Intriago were all-section selections.
