Water main repairs impact Route 28 morning commute

A lane of Route 28 will be closed as crews repair a water main break.

The issue was reported Monday afternoon on a hillside across from the 40th Street Bridge.

One of the inbound lanes of Route 28 has been restricted while crews work on repairs, according to PennDOT. As of 8:30 a.m., traffic backups were extending over the Route 8 overpass in Etna.

The repair work is likely to continue through Tuesday, with Pittsburgh Water reporting the estimated restoration time as 7 a.m. Wednesday.


Clairton woman arrested in connection to Troy Hill stabbing

Pittsburgh police arrested Savannah Francis, 28, of Clairton in connection to a stabbing early Sunday morning in the city’s Troy Hill neighborhood.

According to police, officers responded to the 1600 block of Hatteras Street just before 3 a.m. for reports of a domestic disturbance.

At the scene, police said they found a man with a stab wound to the left-side of his chest. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Francis was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. She is charged with aggravated assault, possessing instruments of crime and reckless endangerment.
