Brackenridge residents will have a new garbage hauler in 2026.

Council on Thursday approved a bid from Shank Waste Service in Lower Burrell which maintains unlimited pickup from borough homes.

Rates will remain at $70 per quarter, but residents will pay a slight charge for items considered oversized, Council President Tim Connelly said.

“You might have to pay $5 or $10,” he said.

Council member Dino Lopreiato said, for collection of electronics, that price is “unheard of.”

The borough received three bids for a three-year contract, with Shank being the lowest.

Costs to the borough will be about $28,500 next year, about $29,300 in 2027 and $30,250 in 2028.

Others that submitted a bid include Adamik and County Hauling. According to the borough website, Adamik is the current hauler.
