Reserve commissioners have approved the township’s $6 million budget for 2026, which carries no property tax increase.

The township’s property tax rate will remain at 6.47 mills. For a property at the township’s median value, the annual township property tax bill will stay at about $615.

Commissioners approved the budget and tax rate on a vote of 4-0, with Commissioner Edward Vincent absent.

The budget and tax rate were unchanged from when they were first presented in November.

While the township’s water and sewer rates for 2026 are unchanged, there will be a $2 per quarter increase in the capital improvement charge to pay for large projects, township Manager Jan Kowalski said.

The township will pass along a 7% increase in the Alcosan sewage treatment rate.

“We collect that on behalf of Alcosan, but we don’t keep any of it,” Kowalski said. “It’s just a pass-through, and they set their own rates.”

Commissioners will meet to reorganize following the November election on Jan. 7.

Second Ward Commissioner Ron Neurohr and Fourth Ward Commissioner Sharon L. Sweeney were unopposed for reelection.

Seats held by Vincent, First Ward; John Kaib, Third Ward; and Robert Stephens, at-large, will be up for election in 2027.
