Five of the six teams ranked No. 1 in the Trib HSSN state rankings heading into the PIAA finals won it all.

The lone exception was in Class 3A where Avonworth ended Northwestern Lehigh’s title run by winning the battle of the unbeaten.

The Antelopes were the only team in the state to finish with a perfect record.

Looking back to mid-August, where were the six new state champions ranked coming into the 2025 season?

In 6A, LaSalle College was preseason No. 2 behind St. Joseph’s Prep.

In 5A, Roman Catholic was ranked No. 2 behind only runner-up Bishop McDevitt.

In 4A, Southern Lehigh was unranked with Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast No. 1, Lampter-Strasburg No. 2, McKeesport No. 3, Thomas Jefferson No. 4 and Pope John Paul II No. 5.

In 3A, Avonworth was No. 2 and Northwestern Lehigh No. 1 all season long until the Antelopes beat the Tigers in the state finals.

In 2A, Southern Columbia was No. 3, behind No. 1 Troy and No. 2 Farrell.

In Class A, Clairton was ranked No. 5 behind Bishop Guilfoyle Academy at No. 1, Fort Cherry at No. 2, Port Allegany at No. 3 and Westinghouse at No. 4.
