The Duquesne Dukes had no answer for Boise State.

The surging Broncos of the Mountain West Conference had their way Wednesday night with the outclassed Dukes.

Duquesne struggled to approach its season scoring average in an 86-64 setback at ExtraMile Arena in Boise, Idaho.

Duquesne entered the game averaging 86.8 points per game.

Boise State (7-3) rode hot 3-point shooting, particularly in the first half, to the victory, its third straight.

The Broncos finished at 57.0 % (12 for 21) from behind the arc, while Duquesne struggled to find the mark, finishing a dismal 5 for 25 (20.0 %).

Pearson Carmichael led Boise State with 26 points off the bench. He shot 10 for 13, including 6 for 8 from behind the arc.

Drew Fielder added 23, and Javan Buchanan chipped in 15 for the Broncos.

Jakub Necas paced Duquesne (6-4) with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting and nine rebounds. John Hugley IV, Jimmie Williams and Jake DiMichele checked in with 11 points apiece.

Boise State established a decisive pace in the first half and rolled to a 15-point halftime lead.

Behind 8-of-13 shooting from 3-point range, the Broncos dominated the first 20 minutes, leading by as many as 17 points.

It was a steady climb to a large lead for the Broncos, who were coming off an impressive nine-point road victory against Butler at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Boise State held Duquesne scoreless for more than four minutes to extend the lead to 32-17 with 6:24 left before halftime.

Buchanan and Fielder connected on back-to-back 3-pointers to highlight a 10-0 run.

Three free throws by Duquesne’s Williams pulled the Dukes within 38-30 with 1:54 to go.

Boise State responded by scoring six consecutive points to close out the first half and take 45-30 lead at the break.

A two-game Rocky Mountain swing for Duquesne winds up Saturday night against another Mountain West opponent, at Nevada.
