The Black Market: Holiday Edition will showcase Black-owned businesses in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District during the holiday shopping season.
The indoor pop-up will be open Thursday, running through Sunday and again December 18-21 on the ground floor of the Encore Building at 100 7th St. in Downtown Pittsburgh.
Shoppers will find a curated selection of gifts and services from 19 Black-owned businesses from around the region.
“This event was created with local Black-owned businesses in mind,” said Shayla Hawkins, founder of Shayla Hawkins Events, which is co-sponsoring the event with the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. “It provides holiday shoppers with unique gift options while offering our vendors a meaningful way to close out their year, connecting, networking, and showcasing their products and services in Downtown.”
“The Black Market is one of the most impactful ways to shop small and support local Black-owned businesses this holiday season,” Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership President and CEO Jeremy Waldrup said.
The event last year was held in Market Square, which currently is closed for upgrades.
The Black Market: Holiday Edition event will pop up near the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership’s annual Peoples Gas Holiday Market, which moved to the Cultural District this year amid renovations in Market Square.
