There have been several prominent Penn State football opt-outs this week with the Nittany Lions’ Dec. 27 Pinstripe Bowl matchup with Clemson inching closer.
Interim head coach Terry Smith will be directing the Nittany Lions against Dabo Swinney’s Tigers.
Matt Campbell, Penn State’s new head coach and Iowa State’s former head coach, has been busy filling out his staff the last few days.
Smith, who has been at Penn State since the 2014 season, was PSU’s cornerbacks coach before athletic director Pat Kraft named him interim head coach.
It was announced earlier that Smith will have role on Campbell’s staff.
Here are some new names that are officially on the Penn State football staff.
Taylor Mouser — offensive coordinator/tight ends. Mouser was Campbell’s offensive coordinator at Iowa State.
Ryan Clanton — offensive line. Clanton was Campbell’s offensive line coach at Iowa State.
Deon Broomfield — secondary. Broomfield coached the Cyclones’ safeties last season.
Skip Brabenec — chief of staff. Brabenec was previously Iowa State’s assistant athletic director for football/chief of staff.
Derek Hoodjer — general manager. Hoodjer was Campbell’s associate athletic director for personnel at Iowa State last season.
Aaron Hillman — director of sports performance. Hillman was Iowa State’s director of football operations last season.
Reid Kagy — head strength and conditioning coach. Kagy held the same tite at Iowa State last season.
Brandon Pietrzyk — strength and conditioning assistant.
Trent Slattenow — director of player personnel. Slattnow had the same role at Iowa State last season.
Jack Griffith — recruiting assistant. Griffith worked at Cincinnati last season.
