Here’s a look at the TribLive Westmoreland County football all-star team for the 2025 season:
First team
Jake Briggs
Penn-Trafford, TE/DE, Sr.
Coach John Ruane said Briggs is “the best blocking tight end in the WPIAL.” He had three catches for 90 yards and a touchdown. On defense, he had 35 tackles, four tackles for loss and three sacks.
Lucah Butler
Penn-Trafford, OT/LB, Sr.
Butler earned first-team Big East Conference honors on defense. He had a team-high 88 tackles, two forced fumbles, two tackles for loss and two sacks. He was also an outstanding blocker.
Brody Chismar
Greensburg Salem, QB, Jr.
The junior set school records in career touchdown passes and passing yards. He rushed for 477 yards and five touchdowns and threw for 1,440 yards and 15 touchdowns. He earned second-team Class 3A Interstate Conference honors.
Samir Crosby
Greensburg Central Catholic, WR/QB/RB/FS, Sr.
The Georgetown commit completed 31 of 46 passes for 555 yards and six touchdowns in three games as a quarterback. He rushed for 1,039 yards and 17 touchdowns and had 18 catches for 272 yards. He added 80 tackles.
Averyon Darnell
Southmoreland, RB, So.
The Class 3A Interstate Conference first-team running back rushed for 613 yards and eight touchdowns. He split carries with Jackson Mickens.
Dom Detruf
Hempfield, QB, Sr.
Detruf led Westmoreland County with 21 touchdown passes. He completed 166 of 256 passes for 2,266 yards and owns numerous season and career passing records. He finished with 5,202 career passing yards and 46 touchdowns. He is receiving Division III interest.
Max Doherty
Derry, RB/OLB, Sr.
The senior had a huge season for the Trojans. He rushed for more than 1,300 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. He was also an outstanding defensive player.
Ben Grabowski
Penn-Trafford, RB/QB/LB, Jr.
Grabowski rushed for 821 yards and 11 touchdowns in earning Class 5A Big East first-team all-conference honors. He had 41 tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks.
Brock Heisler
Hempfield, OL/DL, Sr.
The Harvard commit was a Class 6A first team all-conference offensive tackle. He selected Harvard over offers from West Virginia and James Madison. He also was a defensive selection in 2024.
Jake Knight
Norwin, WR/OLB, Sr.
The senior earned Class 6A first-team all-conference honors. He had 49 tackles, two tackles for loss and two interceptions. He had 15 catches for 282 yards and four touchdowns.
Jack Kopas
Hempfield, WR/DB, Sr.
The senior had 61 catches for 810 yards and nine touchdowns. He was a Class 6A first team all-conference wide receiver. He set a school record for catches in a season and receiving yards. He is receiving interest from multiple Division II schools.
Josh Lenart
Norwin, OLB, Sr.
The senior earned Class 6A first team all-conference honors. He was a stalwart on defense with 56 tackles, seven for loss, and six sacks.
Jackson Mickens
Southmoreland, RB/DE, So.
The sophomore was named Class 3A Interstate Conference first-team defensive end and all-purpose player of the year. He had 47 tackles, 17 1/2 tackles for loss, nine sacks and one interception. He rushed for 459 yards and scored a team-high 11 touchdowns.
Dylan Pitzer
Derry, OT/DT, Sr.
The senior was the Class 3A Interstate Conference Lineman of the Year. He was a dominating performer on both sides of the ball.
Nick Ponko
Penn-Trafford, WR/DB, Jr.
A Class 5A Big East Conference first-team all-star, Ponko had 42 catches for 714 yards and five touchdowns. He had 50 tackles, two interceptions, broke up eight passes and blocked two kicks.
Jayce Powell
Jeannette, WR/DB, Jr.
The Class A Eastern Conference all-star caught 45 passes for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also rushed for two scores and returned a punt for a score. He had 1,388 all-purpose yards.
Giovanni Rothrauff
Norwin, RB, Jr.
The first-team Class 6A all-conference running back had a huge season in helping the Knights to a third-place finish. He rushed for 1,586 yards and nine touchdowns. He rushed for more than 100 yards in 10 of 11 games. He had a career-high 260 yards against Mt. Lebanon.
Payton Schaum
Mt. Pleasant, OL/DL, Sr.
The senior was a dominant blocker as a guard. Schaum earned Class 3A Interstate Conference first-team honors.
Troy Slezak
Franklin Regional, OL/DL, Sr.
The senior was a dominating offensive and defensive lineman. He was selected first team in the Class 5A Big East Conference.
Landyn Stikkel
Penn-Trafford, HB/LB, Jr.
He earned first-team Class 5A Big East Conference honors as a linebacker and played multiple positions on defense because of injuries to teammates. He had 84 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks. He also had nine catches for 150 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns.
Tristyn Tavares
Norwin, QB, Sr.
The first-team Class 6A all-conference quarterback helped lead the Knights to a third-place finish. He threw for 1,243 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for 738 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Tavian Taylor
Monessen, RB/SS, Sr.
The senior had 95 tackles, three for loss, four interceptions and two blocked field goals. He also had 1,600 yards of total offense and 12 touchdowns.
Curtis Wade
Belle Vernon, QB/CB, Sr.
He was a Class 4A Big 6 Conference first-team defensive back and second-team quarterback. He completed 78 of 128 passes for 1,033 yards and rushed for 503 yards. He scored 14 touchdowns.
Dawson Wolfe
Southmoreland, QB/LB, Jr.
The junior completed 83 of 162 passes for 1,141 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 337 yards and nine touchdowns. He was a Class 3A Interstate Conference first-team all-conference outside linebacker. He had 66 tackles, eight tackles for loss and forced two fumbles.
