Does anyone else dread to drive anywhere today? I don’t understand it — from the little old ladies to teenagers, it seems like as soon as the car door shuts, the driver turns into a maniac. Got to get to the store as fast as I can because the sale might be over when I get there.

It seems to me that the traffic control signs must be written in a foreign language. Posted speed limit signs are only half what is allowed, like the gas pumps were in the ’70s. Yield means get the hell out of my way because I’m coming out. After all, I need to get to Walmart right away, or to work, because I left late today.

Stop signs mean it’s OK to blow through them if you don’t see anybody coming the other way. Do the speed limit on Route 30, and vehicles blow by you fast as lightning.

What is it? I don’t know, but I do know that speed is the cause of many avoidable accidents. I think the government needs to get into the act. Why not let Pennsylvania lead the way for a “slow down and pay attention to the road” program, Mr. Governor?

Next I think we need more enforcement from state and local police. Then an education program about bad driving, much like the anti-littering ads with the Native American looking at garbage with a tear in his eye.

Anyway, please slow down; it may save you a lot of money and/or your life.
